Obama Names First U.S. CTO
Barack Obama has tapped Virginia’s Secretary of Technology Aneesh Chopra – not Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt, Jeff Bezos or Steve Ballmer – to be the first chief technology officer of the United States. Jeffrey Zients, a consultant, will be the country’s first chief performance officer. Chopra’s formal title will be associate director of technology in the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy. It is not a cabinet-level position as had been previously rumored.
